GENERAL NATURE OF DUTIES :
This individual is a seasoned technical expert responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and optimization of mission-critical enterprise systems. They specialize in system architecture, performance tuning, and recovery procedures for complex operating systems. As a key advisor, they recommend improvements in system design and application configurations, ensuring operational efficiency. They analyze system requirements, develop specifications, and provide leadership on projects, driving innovative solutions and identifying best practices for system administration.
SPECIFIC DUTIES :
1. Responsible for the overall design of the organization's technology system, platform, or program.
2. Responsible for all aspects of designing, scheduling, planning, and pricing projects, as well as delegating tasks to subordinates.
3. Performs technical installation, support and management of Windows, UNIX, Linux, VMWare ESXi, and other VMWare based servers, including email, backup, database, and terminal servers as well as workstations.
4. Maintains, monitors, and ensures normal operations of all Storage Area Networks (SAN) and the virtual computing environment.
5. Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client / server software and service packs, including management of projects, vendors, and third party contractors.
6. Develops, maintains, and monitors procedures for all server backups and disaster recovery solutions.
7. Assists in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.
8. Assists with management of departmental network projects (file server configuration, QA tests with special network setups, consultations to ensure compatibility with network direction and standards).
9. Assists with the development of standards and procedures for :
a. Network connectivity, support and management in coordination with the Network Administrator.
b. Network product evaluations and recommendations (hardware and software) including compatibility and performance analysis.
c. Ensuring all systems are enhanced with required patches and / or upgrades.
d. Ensuring fault tolerant backup processes are completed timely.
e. Ensuring systems are secure from outside threats and viruses.
10. Assists in configuration and support of client server systems hardware and software.
11. Creates and maintains good technical documentation.
12. Provides support outside of normal business hours as required and / or during systems upgrades.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of CIS and in concordance with its patient philosophy.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION :
1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and / or a related field preferred.
2. Candidate must have 10 or more years' experience in configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining and managing client server technology in a Windows environment.
3. Knowledge of SAN, Fiber Channel, VMWare ESX, VMware View, Exchange, Active Directory, Backup / Disaster Recovery, and network / internet security products is a must.
4. Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies / procedures; communicate technical / complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
