Position Overview:
The Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide advanced practice nursing services to patients with cardiovascular conditions. This role includes assessing, diagnosing, and managing a variety of cardiac conditions, as well as collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a passion for cardiovascular care, and a commitment to patient-centered service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular concerns.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
- Prescribe medications, and educate patients about their medications, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care.
- Provide patient education on cardiovascular health, disease prevention, and management.
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Participate in patient consultations and hospital rounds as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Stay current on the latest advancements in cardiology and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical care.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate of accredited schools of nursing, AND
2. Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, AND
3. Satisfactory completion of a formal education program preparing graduates to practice advanced practice nursing, AND
4. A minimum of a Masters Degree with concentration in the respective nursing specialty area, AND
5. Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse, AND
6. Current certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, AND
7. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification are both required.
8. Successful completion of assigned EKG Courses within 12 months
9. Effective communications skills.
