What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Coach position at Cardiovascular Institute South?
GENERAL NATURE OF DUTIES:
The nature of the duties is to support the registered dietitian and clinic staff by assisting in the provision of food service and nutritional programs, under the supervision of a dietitian. May plan and produce meals based on established guidelines, teach principles of food and nutrition, or counsel individuals. Treats patients in a caring warm professional manner and cooperates with all team leaders and co-workers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Instructing (as needed) with all education classes that are provided by the program including: Guiding and instructing third - party education videos
- Deliver education workshops and demos when directed on diet, nutrition, or health to promote healthy eating habits and illness prevention and treatment.
- Plan and prepare food ahead of planned cooking demonstrations this includes: ordering food and supplies, preparing food before demos for dietitian and obtaining food as needed.
- Determine food and beverage costs and assist in implementing cost control procedures.
- Ensures entire kitchen is clean on a weekly basis which includes t not limited to wiping down counter tops, cleaning dishes, sweeping and scheduled monthly cleaning of appliances.
- Maintains and prepares all teaching materials for dietitian in preparation for cooking demos, nutrition consults and nutrition workshops.
- Completes weekly inventory of food and class curriculum items to report to the dietitian for reordering.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals regarding the dietary modifications or restrictions that will best promote patient health and fit in with other treatment methods for conditions, illnesses and diseases.
- Assist dietitian and behavioral health coordinator in maintaining consult compliance by ensuring consult appointments are scheduled and making reminder calls.
- Assist in the sale and distribution of rehab merchandise at the patient’s request.
