What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Services Representative position at Cardiovascular Logistics?
Nature of Duties:
Performs a variety of medical office duties ranging from patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, managing medical records, handling payments, and correspondence.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma
2. Knowledge of patient scheduling techniques/insurance & billing preferred.
3. Good communication and customer service skills.
4. Ability to learn computerized medical office work.
Specific Duties:
- Answers phone calls, schedules appointments, checks patients in and out, calls patients on recall list to make appointments, and follows up with no-show appointments and corresponds with patients about appointments.
- Greets patients or customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Obtains and completes registration for patients.
- Confirms daily schedules with physicians and assists with any changes.
- Enters electronic messages to other departments to assist with patient flow and documents patient wait times. Performs appropriate and accurate documentation in the medical record as is applicable to patient service duties.
- Assists billing department with collecting co-pays and patient balances. Provides billing department with clear copy of insurance cards and current demographic information.
- Checks medical charts to ensure that insurance verifications are current and available for other personnel.
- Maintains HIPAA privacy and security and provides the CIS Notice of Privacy Practices to new patients or to any who requests it.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary.
