Position Summary:
The main responsibility for this position is to facilitate communication and activities between multiple departments and Distribution Centers (Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Alamosa) to achieve a high-quality volunteer experience. Coordinates the recruitment, scheduling, stewardship, and recognition of Care and Share’s volunteers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains extensive knowledge of Care and Share's daily operations, programs, and services. Collaborates with department leaders to ensure adequate volunteer support and resources. Regularly attends departmental meetings to stay abreast of current/upcoming events and priorities in each department.
- Collaborates with the Development and Marketing team and all department leaders to develop and implement a recruiting strategy. Creates and posts volunteer position openings on multiple platforms. Promptly responds to inquiries from potential volunteers. Plans and participates in volunteer recruitment events.
- Coordinates with the leadership team to schedule volunteer activities and group events. Communicates with all parties regarding upcoming events and tours. Enlists the appropriate departments to provide suitable recognition, gratitude, and event space.
- Develops, monitors, and maintains the stewardship and recognition plan for the volunteer program to ensure all volunteers have continued and lasting engagement with Care and Share.
- Monitors and cross-references the donor database with the volunteer management system to identify discrepancies and outreach opportunities.
- Collaborates with Volunteer Specialists and all department leaders to train volunteers in order to perform the necessary functions required for their unique volunteer role. This includes the initial setup of and troubleshooting issues with the volunteer management system.
- Maintains the volunteer management system. Ensures volunteer information is accurate. Reports volunteer impact and recognizes volunteer achievements.
- Seeks out collaborative community networking events. Represents Care and Share and educates community members about its volunteer program. Builds relationships and arranges strategic partnerships.
- Assists Volunteer Specialists with leading volunteer shifts as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Forms).
- Proficient with CERVIS or another volunteer engagement software highly preferred.
- Intermediate with Raiser’s Edge or similar platform preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and trust quickly.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to resolve conflict and deescalate situations.
- Comfortable speaking in front of large groups and answering lots of questions.
- Must be comfortable using various equipment including but not limited to pallet jack (electric and manual), and shrink wrap machine.
- Must be able to receive and maintain a ServSafe® Food Handler Certification.
- Must be able to receive and maintain a Presidential Award Certification.
Education and Experience:
- At least three years of experience with community outreach, event planning, or recruiting required.
- At least three years of scheduling experience required.
- At least one year of experience managing relationships required.
- Experience working in a warehouse, using pallet jacks, and/or forklift preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of time walking, standing, lifting and operating a pallet jack or forklift.
- Periods of time working in very cold temperatures, including in a large freezer, cooler, and in Colorado weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Travel Requirements:
- Must have valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance that meets Colorado's minimum standards.
- Frequent travel throughout Southern Colorado is required.

The starting wage range for this position is $ annually.
