Position: Independent Living Skills Trainer (ILST)

Are you passionate about helping individuals with acquired brain injuries regain independence and improve their daily living skills? Butler Rescue Hands, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Independent Living Skills Trainer (ILST) to provide one-on-one support to a male client in West Haven, CT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent living skills training in areas such as self-care, communication, budgeting, and community integration.
- Assist with daily routines, including personal organization, meal planning, and safety awareness.
- Support the client in achieving goals that promote autonomy and enhance quality of life.
- Document progress and maintain accurate reports in compliance with Medicaid waiver programs.
- Encourage social and community engagement by accompanying the client to activities and appointments as needed.
- Collaborate with case managers, family members, and other caregivers to create a personalized support plan.
Requirements:
- Experience working as an ILST, DSP, or in a similar direct care role.
- Knowledge of acquired brain injury (ABI) support strategies preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while following care plans.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally if needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check and reference verification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
