Job Title: Outpatient GI Technician (Endoscopy Tech/GI Tech)
Job Summary:
The Outpatient GI Technician is responsible for assisting in outpatient gastrointestinal procedures, providing technical support to physicians, and maintaining equipment and supplies. This role requires strong knowledge of gastrointestinal procedures, medical terminology, and infection control protocols.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment and supplies
- Assist physicians during outpatient gastrointestinal procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician
- Handle specimens and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Provide patient education before and after procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized procedure room
- Follow infection control protocols and ensure patient safety
- Assist with scheduling and patient flow
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a certified GI technician program or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of gastrointestinal procedures and medical terminology
- Basic understanding of infection control protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
