Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU), Pre-Op
Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) in the Pre-Op department is responsible for providing excellent patient care and ensuring patient safety before surgery. They work closely with the surgical team to prepare patients for their procedures and ensure a smooth transition to the operating room.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and monitor patients before surgery, including vital signs and medical history.
2. Administer medications and anesthesia as needed.
3. Educate patients and their families about pre-operative care and post-operative expectations.
4. Assist with the pre-operative preparation of patients, including IV placement and other procedures.
5. Communicate effectively with the surgical team to ensure a coordinated and efficient process.
6. Document patient information accurately and timely in medical records.
7. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients before surgery.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license and BSN degree.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU or Pre-Op setting.
3. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
6. Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
