Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Step Down, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is responsible for providing quality patient care in a fast-paced and critical care environment. This role involves monitoring and managing patients who are transitioning from the ICU to a step-down unit, ensuring their stability and well-being throughout the process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing and monitoring patients' condition and vital signs
2. Administering medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians
3. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans
4. Educating patients and their families on post-ICU care and recovery
5. Responding to emergencies and providing immediate interventions as needed
6. Documenting patient care and progress accurately and thoroughly
7. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
8. Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures
9. Participating in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices in critical care nursing.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting
3. BLS and ACLS certification
4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
6. Ability to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations with professionalism
7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
8. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
9. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
