Job Title: Sterile Processing Technologist
Job Summary:
As a Sterile Processing Technologist, you will be responsible for sterilizing and preparing medical equipment, instruments, and supplies for use in healthcare facilities. You will ensure that all equipment is properly cleaned and sterilized to prevent infections and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Receive, clean, decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, and sterilize medical supplies and equipment.
2. Inspect and test equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.
3. Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment and supplies.
4. Keep accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
5. Follow infection control protocols and procedures.
6. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely access to sterilized equipment.
7. Assist in the training of new staff members.
8. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
9. Handle hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
10. Adhere to all hospital and department policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
3. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and equipment.
4. Strong attention to detail.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
9. Knowledge of infection control protocols.
10. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to procedures.
