What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Support Staff position at Care House Learning Center?
Job Summary: We focus on improving the lives of children and families with comprehensive support through accessible childcare and the love of Christ. Working with children involves extensive physical activity, mental alertness, and enthusiasm. Child care requires bending, stooping, and lifting as workers attend to each child’s interests and needs. This position requires a person who is able to plan and carry out a daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of a group of children. This person must be willing and able to sanitize, disinfect, and clean the center, be sensitive to the needs of individual children, and relate well to both children and adults.
List of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor a safe play and learning environment;
- Support children’s emotional and social development including positive self-concepts;
- Communicate with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities and behaviors;
- Teach children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits;
- Communicate with directors in timely and effective manner;
- Sanitize and Disinfect play equipment, learning tools, classrooms, bathrooms. This is not an exhaustive list;
- Gather and empty trash and recycling;
- Clean floors by vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping;
- Wash and Sanitize dishes;
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to remain calm and patient at all times with a compassionate demeanor;
- Skilled in active listening;
- Basic cleaning knowledge;
- Strong problem solving abilities;
- Knowledge of early childhood development and education theories;
- 1 year in a similar role strongly preferred;
- (preferred) High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move quickly;
- Lifting, equipment, and supplies, up to 50 pounds in weight;
- Frequent stepping, bending, twisting, and kneeling for extended periods;
- Ability to visually and audibly respond to children in emergency situations;
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Frequent hand washing is a must;
