Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer with a background in Cyber Disaster Recovery and Resiliency to join our Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Coordination & Testing team at Goldman Sachs. This role is critical in ensuring the firm's applications and infrastructure are resilient to disruptions, leveraging automation and scripting to enhance recovery and testing capabilities.
As part of this team, you will work closely with application owners to develop and implement comprehensive recovery plans while utilizing automation to optimize and streamline BCP testing processes. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, scripting skills, and analytical problem-solving to enhance resiliency efforts across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
Collaborate with Application Owners and Infrastructure teams to develop and implement robust disaster recovery and resiliency strategies.
Design, coordinate, and execute BCP testing exercises, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Assess disaster recovery gaps and recommend enhancements to strengthen application and infrastructure resilience.
Automation & Scripting
Develop automation tools and scripts to improve the efficiency of disaster recovery and testing processes.
Build and maintain scripts for data validation, system failover testing, and automated reporting.
Enhance monitoring and alerting mechanisms for disaster recovery and BCP exercises.
Data Science & Analysis
Analyze BCP testing results, identify trends, and generate reports for senior stakeholders.
Utilize data analytics techniques to assess system resiliency and recommend improvements.
Work with large datasets to track incident response effectiveness and recovery performance metrics.
Technical Expertise & Coordination
Work closely with teams across Databases, SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and Messaging Systems to understand application dependencies and critical workflows.
Ensure seamless integration of disaster recovery strategies with enterprise-wide IT infrastructure.
Act as a liaison between different teams, ensuring smooth coordination during BCP testing and real-time incident response.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Skills
Strong background in Cyber Disaster Recovery, Resiliency, and Business Continuity Planning.
Hands-on scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting, or similar).
Knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) and experience in working with structured and unstructured data.
Familiarity with messaging technologies (Kafka, MQ, or similar).
Understanding of the SDLC process and the role of resiliency in application development.
Experience working with monitoring and alerting tools for system health and incident response.
