Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate School Age Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child development, with experience in diverse educational settings. This role involves creating engaging activities, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment for children. The teacher will work closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to ensure their academic and personal growth.
This job is considered part-time during the school year (working hours would be 3-6 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 2-6 on Wednesdays). However, full-time working hours (6-8 hours per day) would be expected on days that there is no school (holidays, in-services days, winter break and summer break).
Duties
- Develop and implement activities that align with program goals and cater to the varied learning styles of children.
- Utilize methods and other educational frameworks to enhance learning experiences.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues regarding performance and classroom activities.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies, Conscious Discipline, and effective behavior management techniques.
- Provide care and support for children in a nurturing environment, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Collaborate with administrative and teaching staff to accommodate the needs of students requiring additional support.
- Maintain an organized classroom environment that promotes learning and creativity.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Experience working with children is essential.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood/Child Development is a plus.
- Familiarity with Conscious Discipline/Pyramid Model is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to create inclusive learning activities that cater to diverse learners, including those with special needs.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to effectively handle classroom dynamics.
- Experience in School Age Care settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
- Experience with SACERS-U is preferred or willingness to be trained and execute these guidelines is required.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
