Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Position Summary:
The School-Based LPN plays a vital role in providing one on one health services to a student, assisting with medical needs, chronic condition management, and emergency care while promoting a healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care to students and staff, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Work collaboratively with students who have intellectual disabilities and special needs, adapting your approach to meet their unique requirements.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by physician orders, maintaining accurate records and following school policies and state regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers, prioritizing the student's health and well-being.
- Monitor and assess the student's health status throughout the school day, identifying potential issues and taking proactive steps to address them.
- Support students with daily living activities such as mobility, feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, promoting independence and self-care.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation, ensuring compliance with school policies and state regulations.
- Educate students and staff on healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and hygiene practices, fostering a culture of wellness within the school community.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to develop care plans for students with medical needs, ensuring a cohesive and supportive approach.
- Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) in managing the school health office, handling student health concerns, and providing guidance on best practices.

Requirements:
- Completion of an Approved Practical Nursing Program
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-PN Examination
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Alaska
