What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse position at Care Options for Kids?
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced tracheostomy and ventilator nurse to care for a high acuity patient in the Arcola, TX area. The patient is a one year old male requiring around the clock care, preferably on a rotating schedule with another nurse.
At Care Options for Kids, a home health care company providing 1:1 care in the home, we approach things differently. Unlike traditional hospital settings, our nurses enjoy self-sufficient autonomy and the opportunity to make a real difference in their clients' lives.
Our team values clinical knowledge and respects the deep bond established between nurses and families. If needed, Director of Nursing support is available 24/7, including 365-day coverage and on-demand clinical resources.
A Day in the Life of a Care Options for Kids Nurse
Nurses start their day by communicating with their care team, whether that's a parent or colleague. For added ease, in-depth client information is accessible through our dedicated Point of Care platform.
The client greets the nurse warmly, despite being non-verbal. They smile, reach out to touch faces, and cuddle – excited to see their caregiver. After disconnecting the ventilator, which is only used at night, it's time for breakfast and a light sponge bath.
Each day brings new adventures. Nurses may decide to gaze at clouds, hunt for ladybugs, or create flower crowns. They may set up a living room campout or travel back in time with a book until lunchtime.
Nurses prepare and administer medications, perform routine tracheostomy and g-tube care, and document treatments within their dedicated Point of Care platform. While the client takes a late afternoon nap, nurses finalize electronic documentation and communicate with the relieving member of their care team before heading home.
A day in the life of a Care Options for Kids nurse feels less like work and more like caring for family. It's an opportunity to build clinical expertise while shaping the lives of clients and their loved ones every single day.
