Job Duties
Assists with coverage of units in the absence of the Nurse Manager assigned to
the unit. Assist with the Daily Needs of the float pool staff as they arise.
Acts as a resource to nursing staff and works with the education department to identify educational needs.
Assures high-quality care through interdisciplinary program evaluation, risk management and nursing quality improvement, and discharge planning. Assist Nurse Managers on the reporting requirements needed to be sent to the DOH or any other Regulatory Agency
Acts as the Director of Nursing in his/her absence.
Makes rounds on all units, all three shifts often to evaluate patient care and environmental compliance with state regulations.
Coordinates nursing service with other departments as needed.
Maintains accurate reporting and recording according to policies and procedures set forth and evaluates and makes recommendations for improvements for the welfare of the patients.
Receives thorough reports from the Nurse Managers or charge nurses on any issues identified and works closely with them to ensure maximum patient satisfaction and resolution of any issue identified.
Participates in nursing care as needed and is responsible for directing staff when certain needs are identified during any emergency which may arise.
Assists with scheduling, staffing, recruitment and retention.
Reports all findings to D.O.N. or designee and/or the Administrator. Maintains/expands professional expertise through attendance at professional conferences/seminars and through review of professional literature Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fill these gaps. Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements
Other Duties
Performs other related duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum 3 to 5 years of management experience preferred.
NJ RN license required.
MSN required
BLS certification required.
ACLS preferred
Good organizational skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Education
Masters of Science in Nursing preferred
