What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Transport/Helping Hands Aide position at Care Strategies, LLC?
Essential Duties of our Patient Transport Driver include but are not limited to:
Provide safe and efficient resident transportation to/from outings, doctors’ offices, hospitals,
dentists’ offices, etc.
Drives according to the written schedule. Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicle.
Perform pre-trip safety inspections.
Always maintain vehicle in a constant state of readiness and cleanliness, including vehicle interior
and exterior.
Monitoring patients’ mobility, comfort, and safety during transportation.
Always maintaining patients’ confidentiality, including conversations with family members,
doctors’ offices, or other personnel involved in patient care.
Helping patients get into and out of vehicle safely using special equipment as needed.
Communicating with medical staff to ensure that all required paperwork has been completed
prior to trip.
Providing emotional support to patients during transport.
Maintain vehicle maintenance schedule and reports problems with vehicles to supervisor.
Utilize a GPS and/or map.
Maintain a professional image and attitude.
Maintain daily records of patients transported and vehicle mileage.
Adhere to State and Local traffic laws.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Patient Transport Driver shall be at least 25 years of age, or older, must be of good moral
character. Must be in good mental and physical
condition and willing to work with geriatric and behavioral health patients. Must possess leadership
ability and the willingness to cooperate with other departments. Must understand the social and
emotional needs of patients in the nursing home. Must have tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
as well as be able to handle patients based upon whatever maturity level they are currently
functioning. Must understand instructions in English (both written and spoken). Must have a

successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of
this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Employee will work both outdoors and
indoors, which may include extreme heat and cold, wet and/or humid conditions. Specific vision
abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability
to adjust focus. Must be physically able to push and pull, step up and down steps, safely secure clients
for transport, lift to 50 lbs., and transport wheelchair patients on paved and unpaved surfaces.

General Duties and Responsibilities for Helping Hands
- Assist the CNA in preparing the resident/resident room for consuming meals and fluids.
- Pass meal trays and perform the meal serving set up.
- Pass fresh ice water on each shift or more often as requested by resident.
- Change bed linens and make bed on the resident’s assigned shower day or as assigned by the Charge Nurse or as requested by the resident.
- Answer call lights to see what the resident needs
- Attend in-service training
- Assist, as supervised or instructed, in transporting residents

- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability..
