PCA Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, and outpatient facilities. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting patients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and assisting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality care. Duties

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients to help improve their overall well-being.
• Monitor patient health by observing and reporting any changes in condition to healthcare staff.
• Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients to and from beds or wheelchairs.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene standards and protocols.
• Support healthcare professionals in various settings such as inpatient units, emergency medicine departments, operating rooms (OR), hospital medicine wards, pediatric intensive care units (PICU), and outpatient clinics.
• Document patient care activities accurately to ensure continuity of care.

Skills

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments typical of Level I Trauma Centers or emergency medicine settings.
• Familiarity with geriatric care practices is preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology related to inpatient and outpatient care.
• Capability to perform tasks efficiently while maintaining patient dignity and respect.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient needs across different healthcare settings.

Pay: $15.50 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
