This position reports to the Director of Human Resources, Systems and Operations.
Role Summary and Responsibilities :
The Payroll Manager ensures timely, accurate payroll processing and oversees both internal and external payroll functions, complying with government regulations and company policies. The successful candidate will bring leadership and payroll expertise with proven problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to identifying areas of improvement and refining processes.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
- Process payroll for some groups and oversee the process for other groups, including data entry, validation, and reconciliation.
- Act as a backup to process payroll for other groups in the absence of the Payroll Administrator.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Work with external vendor to prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports, including W-2s, and quarterly tax returns.
- Maintain business relationships and effective communication between all facets of Clinical Operations, Financial Operations, Human Resources, Recruitment. Monitor employee time tracking to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax-related issues.
- Coordinate with other Human Resources team members to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee information.
- Collaborate with Finance for reconciliation to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures.
- Establish and monitor internal controls relative to the correct processing of wages, garnishments, applicable wage taxes and other miscellaneous wage / benefit programs, calculations, and deductions.
- Collaborate with internal payroll stakeholders to make configuration recommendations in alignment with company policy and government regulations.
- Adapt to changes in payroll processes, technology, and regulatory requirements, providing solutions and leading the team through transitions.
- Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders, providing clear information and guidance regarding payroll matters.
- Identify technical training needs and collaborate with human resources on developing an effective payroll training curriculum.
- Represent payroll and serve as a payroll subject matter expert (SME) on enterprise-wide and financial operations technology projects.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff and provide development support in enabling their growth professionally and develop new skill sets.
- Provide supervision and coaching to associates.
- Delegate workloads and various projects amongst the payroll department.
- Be available, as needed, before or after typical office hours.

The Salary range for this position is
90K / yr. - $100K / yr.
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
