Job Title: Lunch/Recess Paraprofessional
Job Classification: Part-Time
Reports To: Building Principal
Work Schedule: School Calendar/Times: Up to 29 hours per week
General Description:
Lunch/recess paraprofessionals provide supervision of students in the lunchroom and at the playground facilities to help ensure a safe and healthy school environment for students.
Qualifications
High School Diploma. Preference will be given to candidate with prior work experience in an educational setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- 100% supervise students involved in various activities
- Assist in the supervision of large and small groups of students while they are in areas like the lunchroom, hallways, playground area, restrooms, and classrooms

Supervise students during the lunch/recess/transition period in an area designated by the principal
- Encourage students to eat their lunch as soon as they have been seated
- Open containers and condiments and assist with cutting up food for students as needed
- Encourage students to stay on task of eating their meal by reminding them to remain seated and use inside voices
- Support students as they move through the customer service line in an orderly fashion
- Direct students to their seats
- Dismiss students when they are finished eating
- Assist in cleaning up the lunch area when needed
- Treat students in a courteous and kind manner
- Monitor students for appropriate behavior while supervising them
- Remind students to keep their hands and feet to themselves
- Remind students to keep the noise to a manageable level
- Provide guidance to children in the lunchroom/playground areas, ensure safety, and assist with injured children
- Refer concerns to the Principal if a student is not following school rules
- Notify the Principal of students who are not eating lunch consistently
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested including attending professional development/meetings in-services and workshops
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Experience and expertise in behavioral management and collaborative problem-solving
- Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility
