Position Summary: The Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for fostering strong relationships between families, students, and school staff to support student success. This part-time position (29 hours per week) focuses on enhancing parental involvement, providing resources, and organizing activities that strengthen family-school partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to increase parental involvement in school activities.
- Serve as a liaison between families and the school to promote effective communication.
- Organize workshops, events, and programs to educate families on student learning, school policies, and available resources.
- Assist families in navigating school procedures, academic support services, and community resources.
- Maintain regular communication with families through newsletters, phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify families in need of additional support.
- Translate and interpret information for non-English-speaking families (if applicable).
- Connect families with school and community resources related to food assistance, healthcare, counseling, and other services.
- Maintain and distribute information on social services, enrichment programs, and academic support options.
- Support the development of volunteer and mentorship programs to strengthen family-school engagement.
- Coordinate and facilitate family engagement events such as literacy nights, parent-teacher conferences, and cultural celebrations.
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to develop and implement family engagement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in community outreach, education, or family engagement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
- Part-time: 29 hours per week scheduled between two buildings.
- Schedule may vary based on school events and needs.
- Hourly wage based on experience and district pay scale.
