Our client is an exciting automotive company that is a global name in their industry. Their reputation is bar none one of the best and they are looking for an Automotive CMF Designer. The company rebuilds and designs high-end cars, and this designer would work with their clients to build their dream car.
The Automotive CMF Designer must be passionate about their craft and be ready to work alongside true professionals who also love what they do.
Working on-site at their 25,000 sq foot facility.
What you will be doing :
CMF Strategy and Concept Development
Research and develop innovative color, material, and finish concepts that align with brand and design vision.
Create mood boards, color palettes, material libraries, and finish samples.
Collaborate with the design team to create concepts and deliver CMF solutions for both the exterior and interior of vehicles.
Material Selection
Identify and recommend materials that meet aesthetic and functional requirements, including sustainability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in the automotive CMF landscape.
Design Integration
Work closely with product designers, engineers, and marketing teams to integrate CMF design concepts into the overall vehicle design.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure feasibility, manufacturability, and quality of materials and finishes.
Prototype and Sample Evaluation
Oversee the creation of prototypes and physical samples for color, material, and finish concepts.
Conduct evaluations and refinements to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to the original vision.
Presentation and Communication
Present CMF designs and concepts to internal teams, leadership, and clients.
Create engaging presentations and reports that effectively communicate design ideas and rationale.
Qualifications :
Educational Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field. Degree not required if equivalent experience.
Experience
5 years of proven experience in automotive CMF design , with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in color, material, and finish selections for automotive projects.
Experience with the automotive design process, including working with CAD software and physical prototyping.
Skills
Strong understanding of color theory, material properties, and finishes.
Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Rhino, KeyShot, and other design software.
Personal Attributes
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to balance creative vision with technical constraints.
A passion for automotive design and a keen eye for aesthetic details and emerging trends.
