Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Shop Assistant to join our team at our manufacturing facility. The Shop Assistant will play a key role in supporting the production and operations teams by ensuring that the shop floor runs smoothly. Responsibilities include managing inventory, assisting with the preparation of materials for production, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the facility, and providing general support to the manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling: Assist in the receiving, storing, and inventory management of raw materials, tools, and production supplies.
Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and assist in the ordering of materials and supplies to ensure production is not delayed.
Support Production Team: Provide hands-on assistance to production workers, such as delivering materials to production lines, setting up workstations, and maintaining the flow of work.
Shop Floor Organization: Ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are properly organized and stored. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following facility safety guidelines.
Equipment Maintenance: Check and maintain basic shop equipment (e.g., hand tools, machines, etc.), ensuring they are in working condition and reporting any issues for repair.
Packaging & Shipping: Assist in the packaging and labeling of finished products. Prepare products for shipping or delivery to customers.
Order Fulfillment: Pick and pack materials for production orders or customer shipments, ensuring accuracy in quantities and specifications.
Quality Assurance Support: Assist with product quality checks and reporting any issues to the quality control team.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols are followed on the shop floor, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any unsafe conditions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials used, inventory levels, and any maintenance or repair needs for shop tools and equipment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.
Ability to operate basic hand tools and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Basic math skills for inventory management and order fulfillment.
Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the production and maintenance teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Knowledge of health and safety standards within a manufacturing facility.
Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy materials.
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in manufacturing or a related field is a plus.
Working Conditions:
The role will involve working in a manufacturing facility with varying temperatures and conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move items up to [specify weight] regularly.
May involve working with machinery, tools, and potentially hazardous materials. Proper safety training will be provided.
[Monday - Friday 6:00am-4:30pm, Saturdays as needed, 6am-12pm, full-time]
