Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

Elevated baby apparel brand is seeking an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller to join its growing team. As the company’s first in-house accounting hire reporting to the CEO, this person will execute on day-to-day accounting/bookkeeping functions as well as some HR tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting activities for DTC and wholesale business lines
• Manage accounting operations and assist with financial reporting
• Execute on daily activities for GL, AP, AR, revenue, commissions, and payroll
• Manage the monthly close process
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Handle some HR tasks, including onboarding and offboarding
• Act as strategic thought partner to CEO for new initiatives and process improvements.
• Liaise with external CPA as needed for tax requirements
• Support internal operational programs
• Support annual budgeting and planning process
• Work alongside other departments on various projects.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or related; CPA preferred
• 5 years of progressive experience in accounting
• Experience working within a start-up organization experience a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting
• Ability to work independently
• Experience with QuickBooks a plus
• Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and controls
• Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills
• Analytical; high attention to detail, organized with exceptional time-management skills
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization

Compensation: $110-145K base commensurate with experience plus bonus and competitive benefits package
