Rubb Building Systems is an American building manufacturer located in Sanford, Maine. We produce and install the finest frame-supported membrane structures in the world, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role requires a professional with expertise in designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of complex structural systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong background in both design and project management. A Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, along with relevant certifications, is preferred. The Senior Structural Engineer will take on a leadership role, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring the successful execution of large-scale projects.

Responsibilities
- Structural Design & Analysis: Design and analyze complex structural systems for our buildings, using advanced engineering software and methodologies.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the team maintains high technical standards.
- Client Interaction: Interface with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are aligned and that design requirements are met.
- Codes & Standards Compliance: Ensure designs comply with local, national, and international building codes and industry standards.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct peer reviews of design calculations, reports, and technical documents to maintain the highest engineering standards.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in project design and implementation, providing solutions to mitigate such risks.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Management team, from concept through to completion, ensuring projects meet time, budget, and quality requirements.
- Construction Support: Offer on-site support during the construction phase, including site visits, inspections, and coordination with contractors to resolve engineering issues.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required).
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with significant exposure to large-scale projects.
Demonstrated experience with structural analysis, design, and project management.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and supervise junior engineers.
Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
Additional certifications such as LEED accreditation or Structural Engineer (SE) license (preferred).
Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, RISA, Tekla, or similar).
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Willingness to travel for site inspections and client meetings, as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time (e.g., 6-8 hours per day).
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, or move around the office or work areas.
Ability to frequently lift and carry objects of moderate weight (e.g., up to 10-20 pounds) with occasional lifting heavier items.
Ability to facilitate basic computer functions such as typing, using a mouse, operating office equipment (e.g., phones, printers, fax machines), or handling documents whether using standard office tools or adaptive equipment.
Ability to focus on detailed tasks, whether reading, writing, or reviewing data on screen or on paper

Ability to work in a typical office environment, which may include air conditioning, artificial lighting, and background noise from phones, conversations, or equipment.

Our general operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
This position is based out of our Sanford, Maine, office. Occasional remote work may be available, after a period of demonstrated work knowledge and consistency.
