Commercial Manager / Specialist – Upstream Oil & Gas (Alaska)
Are you an experienced Commercial Manager ready to tackle complex upstream oil & gas projects in Alaska? 📍 Location Requirement: Must currently reside in Alaska or have previous experience working in Alaska’s upstream O&G industry.
✅ What You’ll Need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Certifications: RICS, AACE, or CPCM certification preferred.
- Experience:10 years in commercial management, cost control, and contracts administration in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Extensive experience with EPC project contracts, procurement strategies, and cost estimation.
- Proven track record managing large capital projects (onshore and offshore).
- Familiarity with regulatory and tax compliance for major Oil & Gas markets.
💻 Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar cost control and financial systems.
- Strong understanding of contract law, procurement strategies, and risk assessment tools.
- Ability to analyze financial models, cost trends, and project KPIs to drive sound decision-making.
📌 What You’ll Do:
Commercial & Contract Management:
- Develop and manage project contracting strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Negotiate and administer various contract types, including EPC, lump sum, cost-reimbursable, and unit rate contracts.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, manage claims, and resolve disputes.
- Collaborate with legal teams to mitigate commercial risks and liabilities.
Cost Control & Forecasting:
- Implement robust cost control procedures, track budgets, and forecast expenditures.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and financial reports for project leadership.
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions to maintain profitability.
- Support procurement and supply chain teams during vendor pricing negotiations.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Assess commercial risks linked to contract terms, market conditions, and project execution.
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations, financial policies, and company standards.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to senior leadership on risk mitigation.
Stakeholder & Client Communication:
- Present commercial reports, cost forecasts, and contract strategies to stakeholders.
- Lead contract negotiations and coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and legal teams.
- Foster collaboration between commercial, legal, finance, and project execution teams.
