Nurse Manager
The nurse manager is a dedicated leader responsible for ensuring high-quality nursing care in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role entails 24/7 accountability for assigned units, oversight of daily operations, fostering interprofessional collaboration, enforcing policies and procedures, managing finances, developing strategic projects, and enhancing both patient and staff experiences. The nurse manager directly supervises front-line staff while assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing practices and care delivery systems.
Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans, goals, and objectives aligned with patient care quality and organizational initiatives.
- Oversee daily operations and ensure all staff are knowledgeable in emergency and disaster response procedures specific to their units.
- Monitor nursing standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage budgets and financial priorities, including payroll, staffing, and resource allocation to optimize patient care delivery.
- Promote cost-effective use of resources while meeting financial objectives, staffing plans, productivity targets, and budget preparations.
- Lead and maintain collaborative relationships with care partners, ensuring effective communication, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
- Supervise and support educational programs, evidence-based practices, and staff development in collaboration with the Department of Education.
- Support the Magnet Program by facilitating shared governance, data collection, and documentation coordination.
- Align work priorities with organizational goals, leading or participating in committees with clear performance improvement targets.
- Address complaints and improvement opportunities with timely follow-ups, including patient and family service recovery efforts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and professional standards of behavior.
- Licensure: Current NJ RN License
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a Registered Nurse with at least three (3) years of progressive leadership experience
- Skills: Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, demonstrate accountability, prioritize teamwork, engage in ongoing education, and uphold high-quality patient care standards.
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Certification: National Certification in a specialty area preferred when eligible
