Job Description
Shifts 3 x12 / Day or Night
Manages / supervises departmental staff / personnel through direction provided to the Clinical Coordinators. Assists Surgical Services staff to achieve their potential as members of an effective team through innovative management practices. Manages all direct and indirect nursing care given to the patients within the Surgical Services department to ensure optimal patient care. Manages the daily operations of assigned departments within Surgical Services including departmental support services such as the Operating Room scheduling and departmental charging. Communicates effectively, both written and verbally, with all members of the Healthcare Team, customers, and key stakeholders. Prepares, implements, and monitors the operational and capital budgets to ensure sound fiscal management for the operating room. Manages departmental products and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Ensures the departments within Surgical Services maintain appropriate documentation. Promotes and monitors departmental safety. Compiles statistical information as directed by the OR Committee or the Director. Serves as a professional role model for the Surgical Services Team. Pursues own professional growth through continuing education, and participation in a professional organization and services. Actively participates in Hospital and Community activities to ensure that the role of the Perioperative organization is advanced / marketed in order to recruit and maintain staff.
Requirements
At least two years of current experience in peri-operative nursing in which leadership and management abilities have been demonstrated is required
Current management experience in Peri-operative Nursing Practice is required
BSN preferred
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider and
Current Virginia State licensures by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse are required
MUST HAVE MIN 5 YEARS RN OR EXPERIENCE IN AN ACUTE CARE NO SURGICAL CENTER MGR WILL BE CONSIDERED HCA EXP PREFERRED ONSITE IS REQUIRED

Requirements
Undergraduate degree in HIM / HIT preferred (Associate's or Bachelor's). Active RHIA, RHIT, and / or (mandatory). Extensive experience auditing MS-DRG inpatient coding : 3 years of hands-on MS-DRG auditing in a hospital setting. 10 years of total medical coding experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise across all body systems (not limited to one specialty, such as Orthopedics). Ability to pass a coding test : 20 multiple-choice / true-false and 5-7 behavioral questions (90 minutes). Reside in an eligible state (not available for California, Alaska, New York, or Colorado candidates).
