Job Overview
We are seeking a creative and experienced Design Manager to lead our design team in developing innovative solutions that align with our brand vision. As a Design Manager, you will oversee the design process from concept to execution, ensuring that all projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate truss designs that comply with applicable building codes and project specifications.
- Interpret blueprints to identify and address potential issues prior to or during the design process.
- Produce clear, detailed, and easy-to-read layouts that are both informative and precise.
- Optimize truss designs to maximize material efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and use of labor resources.
- Specify all required hardware and associated building materials with accuracy.
- Collaborate with customers or contractors on-site to address design changes, concerns, or inquiries.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized documentation for each project.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using MiTek design software.
- In-depth knowledge of state and local building codes relevant to truss design.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints.
- Familiarity with CAD software and drafting techniques.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and the construction industry.
- Receptive to constructive feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong retention skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, management, architects, engineers, clients, and contractors.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to visit job sites to resolve design or engineering issues as needed.
- Proficient in performing calculations related to structural loads, load transfers, truss heights, heel heights, and other job-specific metrics, including basic financial assessments.
- Strong understanding of relevant products and their applications.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of job progress and status.
Position Requirements:
- This is an on-site role; remote work is not available. Daily attendance at the production facility/office is required, with occasional travel to local job sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to walk, reach, stoop, squat, climb, or kneel repetitively, as required.
Additional Qualifications:
- Associate degree (2 years of college) preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Must pass a non-DOT drug screening.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated experience with MiTek software.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
- Must possess a clean driving record.
