We are currently seeking Direct Support Professionals to work with our Patton Individual. Full or Part time positions are available. Shifts include morning, afternoon, evening, nights and overnights.
Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting independence, dignity, and personal growth. DSPs work closely with clients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, home care environments, and community programs.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals.
- Provide companionship and engage in social activities to foster meaningful relationships.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by monitoring their health and behavior.
- Advocate for resident rights and promote a respectful environment.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers and healthcare professionals, to create individualized care plans.
Skills
- Ability to lift clients safely as needed to assist with mobility or transfers.
- Certification in CPR is preferred to ensure client safety during emergencies.
- Experience in senior care or home health settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices related to developmental disabilities is beneficial.
- Cooking skills are a plus for preparing nutritious meals tailored to client preferences and dietary needs.
- Familiarity with assisted living environments and the unique challenges faced by residents with developmental disabilities.
- Understanding of resident rights and advocacy for their needs within the community.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly valued.
