Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Monitor and document vital signs as needed, ensuring the health and safety of clients.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Support clients with dementia care, employing appropriate techniques to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Advocate for resident rights, ensuring that all interactions uphold their dignity and autonomy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while documenting client progress and incidents.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to caregiving and working with individuals with disabilities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred, particularly in hospice care or group home settings.
- Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and patience when working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Understanding of social work principles as they relate to client support is beneficial.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
