The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assists the Housekeeping Manager supervise and provide day to day direction to the operations of common area, housekeeping and In-House Laundry, providing housekeeping services for guest/owner accommodations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:
- Supervise and oversee common area, housekeeping and in-house laundry
- Manage weekly inventory of all unit supplies, laundry chemicals and monthly linen/terry.
- Coach/train employees to achieve and exceed standards, quality and quantity.
- Inspect units, buildings and common areas for cleanliness standards.
- Monitor daily assignments and training.
- Provide timely corrective action, when behavior/misconduct, performance, policy/procedure and attendance standards are not met.
- Motivate and provide recognition for employees who exceed service expectations.
- Address and follow-up with guest/owner concerns timely.
- Ensure timely verbal and written communication with employees and management team.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings.
- Attend departmental and company meetings.
- Maintain the housekeeping key log.
- Maintain the lost and found log and process the items in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of resort policies, procedures, and operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision of common area, housekeeping and In-House Laundry. The Manager is expected to demonstrate thoughtful decision making in a high-pressured environment, while consistently modeling the Holiday Inn Club Vacations competencies. This individual is responsible for the actions, results, successes and failures of the team. Service and cleanliness standards, operational processes, training, and employee motivation should be the focus. They should take responsibility for the failures and share the successes, always modeling the approach expected from the team. Guidance is received from the Manager, Housekeeping.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of timeshare housekeeping and labor management.
- Knowledge of relevant payroll, labor and employment laws to effectively manage a team.
- Knowledge of inventory control.
- Ability to anticipate needs, prevent and solve problems, Supervise people, complete projects, manage and motivate staff with diverse skill levels; multi-task; and set priorities.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Experience with effectively interacting with coworkers, vendors, third parties and all levels of management both inside and outside the organization.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the continuous development of the team.
- Have a high degree of judgment.
- Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Must be at least 21 years of age with an active driver's license and 4 years of driving experience.
- Bilingual a plus – English / Spanish
Education and/or Experience
Have experience in the hotel/motel/timeshare/resort or related industry with two years in a supervisory role. Individuals must also be able to demonstrate leadership, communication, accountability, interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence.
