Summary
As a Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst in the Reinsurance & Risk Management Department, you will provide actuarial services primarily supporting our assumed and ceded reinsurance business as assigned by the AVP, Reinsurance Actuary. Additional assignments may include supporting corporate actuarial functions, including but not limited to, risk-adjusted return analysis and pricing support for direct insurance products. You will represent the company in various interactions with brokers, reinsurers and cedents.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Provide lead support for pricing assumed reinsurance treaties. This includes providing estimate of losses and variability around the losses and evaluating sliding scale ceding commissions.
- Collaborate with underwriters and brokers as needed to discuss pricing indications.
- Assist with exposure management team with aggregation analysis of the assumed reinsurance book.
- Assist with placement of ceded/retrocession treaties.
- Analyze internal and industry data such as increased limit factors, loss trend, exposure trend, loss development factors, industry loss costs and various rating factors.
- Assist with other corporate actuarial analysis as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related field
- CAS Exam 5 completed
- 3 years of professional property & casualty actuarial experience, pricing, rate making experience preferred
- Reinsurance experience a plus
- Self-motivated with an inquisitive desire to learn
- Proven ability to meet defined deliverables
- Proficiency in performing rate indications for property and casualty lines of business
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft office
- Effective written and oral communication skills
