Job Summary: The Transactions Paralegal is responsible for handling delegated substantive legal work with particular emphasis on land deals from contract to post-closing with minimal supervision. As a member of the legal team, this position will partner with other Paralegals, Attorneys, and collaborate with divisional and corporate employees to ensure smooth processing of land deals and other assignments as directed.

Assist with negotiation, preparation and administration of transactional real estate documents including purchase and sale agreements, assignments, easements, licenses, leases, disclosures and financing documents. Review title commitments and exception documents, consultant reports and surveys and other due diligence materials. Prepare for and manage land closings. | 50% |
Participate in supporting, advising and managing colleagues and outside counsel on acquisition, development and litigation matters. Assist with advising on general corporate compliance matters and providing legal counsel on day to day operations, as well as overseeing and implementing assigned department projects and training. | 25% |
Assist with negotiation, preparation and administration of construction related documents including prime construction contracts, subcontractor contracts and consultant contracts. | 10% |
Assist with the formation, acquisition and operation of business entities (corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies) used in company development projects. | 10% |
Performing limited administrative tasks, including organizing and filing records and correspondence, coordinating meetings and conferences, tracking CLEs and preparing expense reports | 5% |
education/experience/minimum requiremenTs:

- Paralegal Certificate required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience required
Experience
- 4 years of transactional real estate paralegal experience required (residential or commercial) with a reputable law firm and/or another in-house legal department
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in MSOffice suite: MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (advanced level)
- Proficient in computerized research – Westlaw, LexisNexus, and others
- Detail oriented, capable of handling heavy, multi- layered client and attorney contact, and be extremely responsive to tight turn around schedules for transactions in various stages of development
- Strong organizational skills, be able to handle multiple deadlines, and create functional systems for handling data
- Action oriented with the drive to push projects to successful closure
- Strong ability to work within a team setting
- Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to take complex concepts and communicate succinctly and accurately
Work Requirements
- Work 8-hour days with flexibility for overtime when necessary
- Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to potential buyers, trade partners, and coworkers to reinforce goodwill and profitability for the company
- Occasional travel to assigned division offices, as needed
