Description:
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for conducting orientations and testing sessions. Schedules, assesses, and assigns referred clients to appropriate activities.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Conducts regular Orientation and Assessment group sessions.
- Oversees and insures proper completion of orientation and assessment paperwork.
- Schedules and conducts one-to-one assignment appointments Employability Plans and Assessment Reports and assign them to appropriate work activities.
- Verifies and documents all client activity in appropriate databases and CSD paper files.
- Provides ongoing counseling, advocacy, and liaison services to clients.
- Completes all assignment paperwork and documentation for timely submission.
- Orients new clients to Placement Program rules, regulations, and policies.
- Interviews clients to review their education, employment history, and other barriers to employment.
- Confers with program staff and the clients to determine appropriate vocational goals.
- Coordinates transportation arrangement with agency representative.
- Coordinates on-the-job training and work try-out payments to employers.
- Conducts Project Presentations to local employers to solicit job pledges and openings.
- Meets regularly with program participants to provide them with employment leads and to assist with their own job search efforts.
- Arranges interviews for clients with local employers. Provides transportation to and from interviews.
- Counsels and assists clients in solving problems which interfere with the retention of active employment. Directs those clients with social services and vocational problems to the appropriate resource.
- Submits activity reports to the Program Supervisor.
- Conducts job readiness training groups.
- Contacts clients who fail to report.
- Completes all required reports, client documentation, expenditure reports, and employment verification/follow-ups in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
(a) EQUIVALENT EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree.
(b) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- One year personnel, guidance, industrial, sales, or social work experience. Master’s degree in above-mentioned areas will be accepted in lieu of experience.
(c) KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Social awareness, industrial procedures, record keeping, local geography, world of work, job market, computer literacy, oral and written communication skills, employment preparation skills, and area industries, area social service, and health agencies.
