Job Summary
The Legal and Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the contract administration staff and provides compliance guidance on complex contracts, renewals, service agreements, etc. Directs and develops policies and processes that govern the contract administration staff and provide guidance on contract terms and the assessment of contract proposals. Prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and administers commercial and government contracts in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Works with leaders on responses and actions related to legal requests including subpoenas, legal notices, etc. Ensures that department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the Contracts Team to ensure the department is meeting goals and deliverables; oversees hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Develops, prepares, and administers contracts, bids, and proposals that meet specifications and comply with all policies and regulations.
- Leads in contract negotiations with suppliers, vendors, partners, etc.
- Reviews contract terms to identify any potential risk or compliance issues.
- Examines supporting materials and agreement documents related to bids or contracts and provides guidance.
- Acts as liaison between the organization and subcontractors to implement the contracts.
- Supports CFO in negotiations for complex or high-value customer contracts.
- Maintains contract records used to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Cultivates relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, understanding, and collaboration on Contracts effort.
- Embodies and promotes WorkCare values and ethics.
- Works with HR and other department leaders on responses and actions related to legal requests including subpoenas, legal notices, etc.
- Performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
Qualifications
Bachelor‘s Degree; Advanced degree preferred; Paralegal preferred.
Deep knowledge of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations.
Competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
