The Data Scientist supports clinical quality and safety innovation and projects using data science techniques and technologies. Under general supervision of the Manager, Clinical Data & Analytics and / or designee, engages in all activities necessary to provide analyses of qualitative and quantitative quality and health-related data sources, including (but not limited to) developing innovative approaches to discovery, machine learning and natural language processing, qualitative data analyses, methods to uncover subtle associations and causal factors, data management, mapping across multiple data sources, analysis, interpretation, and reporting related to patient safety via a variety of databases. Conducts outcome reporting for all MedStar Health quality and safety programs using database systems to support quality improvement. Analyzes targeted acute and non-acute datasets that identify both system-wide and site-specific trends and areas for improvement. Utilizes predictive analytics to identify the likelihood of future outcomes.
