On behalf of Dr. Laurence Sands, Chair of the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery and Chief, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM), CareerPhysician, LLC, the national leader in academic pediatric leadership recruitment, has initiated an international search to identify a transformational leader to serve as the next UMMSOM Director, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and Co-Director, Holtz Children’s Heart Center .
Opportunity Highlights :
- The incoming Director will have the opportunity to partner with the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and Holtz Children’s leadership to envision and build an internationally respected Heart Center for the children of South Florida, and a destination program for children in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. Efforts should result in a U.S. News Best Children’s Hospital nationally ranked Cardiology and Heart Surgery Program in the next three years.
- The Department of Surgery and Holtz Children’s Hospital are seeking a technically excellent surgeon with the entrepreneurial drive and vision to partner with them in building a thriving and internationally respected pediatric cardiovascular surgery program. The new surgical leader will be charged with the establishment of a new Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery within the Department of Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
- The new Division Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery is directly responsible to the Chair, Department of Surgery, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for the Division's overall function. The Director will also serve as Surgical Director for Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgery.
- Building world-class divisional research and teaching missions is also a priority. Multiple areas of interest will be supported by the Department, with unique opportunities to be part of the Batchelor Children’s Research Institute, as well as to collaborate with the Mailman Center for Child Development, an academic center at UMMSOM that is one of the top 10 programs in the United States for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and chronic illness.
- Newly structured maternal-fetal medicine program and expanding fetal cardiology program.
