POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
The Forestry Operator/Technician position is seasonal/temporary full-time from May – September 2025.
The Forestry Operator/Technician helps in the ongoing forestry operations on Afognak Island by performing various tasks supporting the Senior Forestry Technician. Duties include but are not limited to; reforestation, tree stand improvement, and maintenance.
Perform and assist in stand improvement operations, and pre-commercial thinning and inspections
Perform and assist in tree planting, inspections, and reforestation compliance activities
Assist in regeneration and stocking surveys
Assist the Senior Forest Engineer in road and buffer layout
Assist with infrastructure and camp maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Pay rate: $23.00 to $26.00 hourly
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong familiarity with reforestation and stand improvement
Minimum 2 years experience as a Forestry Technician/Operator
Valid Drivers License
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to work outdoors in harsh inclement weather for extended periods of time
Ability to live and work in a remote environment for extended periods of time
Ability to cook and clean for own personal needs
Preferred Qualifications :
2 year Forestry Technician Degree
GIS and GPS proficient
