KKR REAL ESTATE CREDIT AND K-STAR INVESTMENT SERVICES OVERVIEW

KKR Real Estate Credit was formed in January 2015 to invest in real estate credit products and complement KKR Real Estate's private equity platforms. Within KKR Real Estate Credit, we seek opportunities where we have a sourcing, underwriting or execution advantage by leveraging KKR's brand, industry knowledge and relationships. KKR Real Estate Credit currently invests through six separately capitalized vehicles across our Direct Lending and Securities portfolios and consists of 50 dedicated professionals based in New York, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas.

K-Star Asset Management LLC ("K-Star") was formed in 2022 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of KKR. K-Star is a dedicated investment services platform that supports underwriting, asset management, loan origination, securities investing, risk management, and client experience for KKR Real Estate Credit as it continues to scale. The K-Star team includes industry specialists in special servicing, asset management, due diligence, and loan closing, among other functional areas. POSITION OVERVIEW

K-Star is seeking a Software Engineer to join our development team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality solutions that drive the Real Estate functions for underwriting, investment strategy, operations, and asset management. The ideal candidate would have a strong familiarity with real estate finance and experience with full-stack development, data management skills using a modern technology stack. The individual must have strong verbal / written skills and align well with the firm's culture of teamwork, excellence, and results-orientation.

The skilled and versatile candidate will be a member of a dynamic development team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining interactive and responsive web applications using React on the frontend as well as Python on the backend. This hire will work on a cloud-native tech stack of micro services leveraging Kubernetes and modern approaches to CI / CD. The role is a full time, in-office role based in the K-Star office in Dallas, Texas.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the tech lead for frontend technologies, ensuring best practices, code quality, and architectural consistency across React applications
  • Design, develop, implement, and debug scalable full-stack applications using React, Python, DBT, and PostgreSQL within an AWS environment
  • Ensure smooth deployment pipelines using CI / CD best practices in a git-based workflow to enable fast and safe releases using Terraform, Jenkins, and Kubernetes
  • Champion clean code, automated testing, and performance optimization
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, like sprint planning and retrospectives to continuously deliver value and improve team performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data engineers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end components

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field
  • 5 years of software engineering developing user-facing features built with JavaScript and modern, component-based UI frameworks like React, and standards like JavaScript (ES6 ), HTML5, and CSS3. (Internship experience does not apply)
  • 5 years of software engineering developing RESTful APIs built with Python using frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or Flask (Internship experience does not apply)
  • Proven ability to lead frontend initiatives, make architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices like CI / CD and automated testing
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security and usability
  • Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git, and collaborative development workflows
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others
  • Experience with agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in business administration or information technology
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform and knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in commercial real estate finance and / or structured products
  • Experience with relational databases like Postgres
  • Experience with ETL pipelines and related frameworks like DBT
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions
