INTERN, CELLULAR BIOLOGY & ASSAY TECHNOLOGY in Buffalo, NY

Join a team of high skilled scientist and work in a fast-passed customer focused environment to conduct research in support of discovering and advancing new drug candidates or basic research on disease targets. Build on your education and experience by developing practical knowledge and skills under the mentorship of skilled scientist and learn to operate state of the art instrumentation for 384 and 1536 well plate-based assays using a wide variety of detection techniques from absorbance or time resolved fluorescence to confocal fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry.
Learn and contribute to the development and characterization of cellular assays for testing compounds or biomolecules; automation of assays to determine potency and selectivity; analysis and interpretation of assay development, screening and potency data. A major component in the intern’s success will be based on motivation, teamwork and productivity.

Responsibilities
• Contribute to pre-clinical Drug Discovery research projects
• Assist in the development and validation of assays for bioactivity screening
• Assist in the analysis, interpretation and preparing presentations for customers of the results of assay development experiments, screening and potency testing
• Develop and effectively apply a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills; including molecular biology, cell culture, biochemistry, assay development, in depth analysis of bioactivity data and the use of automated equipment
• Effectively utilize standard laboratory equipment including hand pipettes, balances, pH meters, plate readers and calculators
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled (or recent graduate) in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in Biology or Cell Biology, or related field
• Academic laboratory experience conducting molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, assay development and validation
• Computer training in the use of standard office software applications and databases
Salary: $22/hour
