The Research Scientist III, Biologics (RSIII) is an experienced and knowledgeable scientific team member who is responsible for delivering on phage and yeast display-based antibody discovery projects as well as binding kinetics and epitope mapping experiments as part of the Antibody Discovery Engineering and Characterization (ADEC) team. The Research Scientist III independently designs and executes experiments, follows complex protocols and troubleshoots, contributes to or leads projects involving one or more Business Units, and trains less-experienced staff.

Responsibilities
• Lead phage and yeast display-based antibody discovery and affinity maturation projects
• Operate the Octet and Carterra instruments to generate data. Perform detailed analysis of antibody-antigen binding, and protein interactions. Perform binding kinetics and epitope mapping studies.
• Perform mammalian cell culture
• Perform low and high through-put assays (e.g. ELISA, FACS) to assess antibody binding
• Design and perform ELISA-based biofunction assays
• Design and perform cellular biofunction assays that require FACS- or plate-reader-based downstream analysis
• Document experimental work in physical and/or digital laboratory notebooks
• Perform data analysis and prepare study reports
• Assist in preparing requests for proposals or statements of work
• Regularly communicate test results to company supervisors
• Present work product at group meetings
• Maintain laboratory environment (control sample inventory and reagents)
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field
• Minimum 9-13 years’ experience in mammalian cell culture and antibody analysis and characterization
OR
• Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field
• Minimum 7-11 years’ experience in mammalian cell culture and antibody analysis and characterization
OR
• PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Immunology or related field
• Minimum 4-8 years’ experience in mammalian cell culture and antibody analysis and characterization
Preferred
• Experience in mammalian cell culture and antibody characterization
Pay Range: $89,000 - $110, 964/year
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
