Position Summary & Duties:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Maintains the integrity of the medical staff credentialing database and assures quality and accuracy of data entered within job product.
- Creates and generates reports requests from ancillary departments and outside sources utilizing ECHO physician database.
- Processes Blast emails/fax notice requests from ancillary departments, chairs, and other sources utilizing ECHO database.
- Coordinate, in collaboration with the Credentialing Coordinator, the credentialing process for initial appointment and reappointment of physicians and advanced practice providers (APP) and locum tenens; ensures applicants’ qualifications meet or exceed established guidelines set by the medical staff and all required information is verified prior to review by Section Chiefs/Department Chairs; and prepares files for submission to Credentials Committee or Interdisciplinary Practice Committee.
- Ensures proctoring requirements for physicians and advanced practice providers are communicated to practitioners and tracked.
- Coordinates with Quality Department to ensure facilitation of both Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).
- Tracks practitioners on ongoing/focus review and reports concerns to Chair and Client Director.
- Serves as primary liaison to department chairs and assigned committee chairs, to coordinate all required activities related to those assignments.
- Collaborates with department chairs to prepare meeting agendas and packets for distribution to participants.
- Prepares meeting minutes, confidential correspondence, and follow-up with others.
- Oversees and prepares ED call stipends and all other payments to medical staff related to assigned medical staff functions.
- Assists with correspondence and reports related to Synergy Health claims, processes, and follow-up on Synergy Health monthly invoices to ensure timely payment through accounting.
- Assists with BOD follow-up, as directed (e.g., correspondence, database updates) Supports the President of the Medical Staff, Department Chairs, Sections Chiefs and Chief Medical Officer in the context of their responsibilities and credentialing roles.
- Participates and contributes to Process Improvement activities of the department.
- Complies with departmental plan to meet budget goals, including productive hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
- Working knowledge of laws/standards regarding Medical Staff related matters, and regulatory requirements, including TJC (the joint commission) and California law.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of databases and electronic management of data/information.
- Computer capable and proficient in use of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to organize and manage a large volume workload.
- Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to multitask while maintain professional demeanor.
Requirements:
- 3 Years experience in a hospital medical staff office.
- CPCS or CPMSM
