Job Description:
The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients seeking healthcare services, whether for routine care or critical health decisions. The Phlebotomist III- Float is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures. This role involves direct patient interaction, where the Phlebotomist III- Float ensures a trusting and confident environment by explaining procedures clearly and performing blood draws safely, accurately, and skillfully.
The Phlebotomist III- Float provides coverage across multiple locations and roles, including patient service centers, mobile services, long-term care, in-office phlebotomy, and more as business needs dictate. They ensure daily activities at these locations are completed accurately and on time. As a senior-level phlebotomist, the Phlebotomist III- Float demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and precision in patient information. The Phlebotomist III- Float may also step in to lead teams on-site, coach, mentor, and guide new employees, and serve as a point of contact for staff, offering regular feedback to group leads or supervisors.
In addition to core phlebotomy responsibilities, the Phlebotomist III- Float works with high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring exceptional customer-facing skills, such as verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with multiple functions including Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics. This position requires a high level of multitasking and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily activities accurately and on time at various locations including patient service centers, mobile services, long-term care, and in-office phlebotomy, as needed.

Draw and prepare blood specimens with skill and accuracy, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Foster a trusting and confident atmosphere with patients, explaining procedures clearly and performing tasks safely and efficiently.

Provide leadership on-site by stepping in to lead teams, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource advisor.

Support the onboarding process for new employees and provide guidance to them as needed.

Act as a point of contact for staff on-site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.

Handle high-complexity or high-volume practices, ensuring high standards of customer service and collaboration with internal functions like Sales, Billing, IT, and Logistics.

Demonstrate problem-solving skills, collaboration with multiple functions, and ensure the delivery of excellent service to patients and clients.

Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling patient information and laboratory test results.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Work Experience:

Minimum of five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

At least three years of experience in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment preferred.

Experience in customer service within a retail or service environment preferred.

Keyboard/data entry experience is required.
