Job Description:
Position Title: Material Specialist
Position Overview:
The Material Specialist will be responsible for scheduling production and service parts, coordinating material needs, and ensuring the integrity of inventory. This position requires a proactive individual who will spend 50% of their time on the shop floor and is open to working overtime, including weekends, when needed.
Position Details:
- Overtime: May include extended weekday hours or weekend work.
- Off-Shift Hours: Must be willing to work off-shift if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling:
- Schedule production and service parts.
- Expedite production and purchased parts.
- Coordinate material requirements and implement engineering/material changes in the Client Production System (kanbans/triggers).
- Assist in maintaining inventory integrity and accuracy, including production and scrap reporting.
- Provide work direction as needed.
- Collaborate with production and other departments for inventory control and material handling.
- Assist in client planning as necessary.
- Coordinate parts with other Client departments.
- Communicate the implementation of engineering and material changes.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in any business-related field.
Experience:
- Manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Open to recent graduates, though preference will be given to candidates with 3-5 years of professional experience post-graduation.
- Professional experience interacting with union workers, managers, and leadership teams.
- No gaps in employment history.
Additional Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Position Requirements:
- Work Location: Primarily on the shop floor (50% of the time).
Dress Code: Business casual.
Safety: Metatarsal protection required on the first day.
Travel: Some travel between Waterloo sites for meetings using a personal vehicle.
Vehicle Operation: Potential to drive a Client owned Gator on the shop floor after successful training completion.
