Location: Houston TX - Hybrid 4x (M-TH)
Contract: 1 Year (Possibility of Extension)

Job Summary
The Scrum Master is the Agile process owner for the software development product owner, team, and organization. They enable and enforces the practices of Agile development, including facilitating team meetings, ensuring backlog structure, and enforcing the correct use of tools/processes/cadences including processes related to User Story elaboration, effort estimation, and Sprint Planning while focusing on improving team effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Encourages getting work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
Facilitates discussions and decision-making, and is responsible for mitigating and solving impediments
Leads the team and guides them on maximizing self-organization.
Provides support using a servant leadership style whenever possible, leading by example, and demonstrating value-add principles.
Occasional travel may be required.
Key Activities
Plan and schedule Agile Ceremonies
Ensure there is time and space available for meetings
Invite the right Stakeholders to each meeting
Establish the sequence and priorities of the agenda for each meeting
Take, process, and distribute notes to the team (can be delegated but the Scrum Master should know the content well)
Ensure quality of Backlog structure and tools
Work with Product Owner to make sure that User Stories are well defined, written, and estimated
Ensure that Backlog and tools are used correctly by team
Ensure observance of Definition of Done
Own Sprint metrics, e.g. calculate and present burndown charts, develop trending and tracking models for metrics
Ensure delivery efficiency and maintains focus
Analyze burn down issues to find root causes
Help the team resolve problems
Maintain team s focus by protecting the process
Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor s degree in computer science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
Work Experience: 4 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
CSM preferred
Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Agile methodologies, incl. Scrum
