Position Title: Tool Designer
Duration: 3 years contract
Location : Waterloo, IA 50703
Shift Details:

1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Overtime: Anticipated 10-15 hours per week
Position Overview:
The Tool Designer will be responsible for executing the tool design process for assigned projects. This includes collaborating with stakeholders, creating and refining design concepts, and ensuring successful project completion through the production of detailed design models and drawings. The role will involve working on-site, utilizing various design and engineering tools, and closely interacting with the Tool Makers and other team members.
Key Responsibilities:

Design Process:

Review and clarify work orders (WOs) with Client stakeholders

Create design concepts (up to 20% of project Product) and seek stakeholder approval
-
Complete design modeling and Product approval before moving to detailed drawing
-
Draft detailed CAD drawings for manufacturing, incorporating necessary geometry
-
Notify procurement upon design completion
-
Deliver build prints and collaborate with Tool Makers during review
-
Attend fit/function tests with Tool Makers and Manufacturing Engineers (ME)

Provide troubleshooting input as needed

Update design to "As Built" prints

Project Management:

Prioritize WOs and adjust project due dates as directed by Client

Accommodate design changes requested by Client
-
Perform work using tools such as Creo, Smart Assembly, PDM Link, UGS TeamCenter, AutoCAD, and Ansys
-
Update SAP with time entries and WO status
-
Ensure secure data transfer via FileZilla or other approved methods
-
Maintain communication through MS Outlook

Safety and Training:

Complete all required safety and ergonomics training

Attend required staff meetings
-
Adhere to company dress code (business casual; metatarsals required for first day)

Must Have:

Experience with Creo or solid modeling

Knowledge of fabrication methods

Engineering background

Programming experience (C , Python, SQL)

Experience Preferences:

At least 5 years of Tool Design experience highly preferred

Recent graduates with relevant internships and experience with Creo or solid modeling will be considered
