Job Description

STC is seeking an exceptional senior level Systems Administrator to support the Research, Science, and Engineering Services (RSES) contract. Candidate will join a team providing support for the Air Traffic Operations Laboratory (ATOL) and Airspace and Traffic Operations Simulation (ATOS) located at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. Duties will include providing network, system, and application support for both software and hardware. Candidate will also be expected to support experiments, demonstrations, and tours of ATOL systems both locally and temporarily at remote locations, to include off-center and out-of-state.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of IT System Administration experience, or a similar/related field. (Required)

 

Required Skills:

• Five years of experience with Windows desktop and server system administration experience.
• Three years of experience with Linux (Fedora/Debian Preferred).
• Strong understanding of IT security best practices that ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of the systems and data used to conduct research, demonstrations, and tours.
• Five or more years of IT security responsibility experience.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts that includes firewalls, routing, VLANs, etc.
• Self-starter showing strong willingness and ability to learn new concepts and techniques.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks/projects and see them through to completion.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Must have experience in analyzing problems, formulating solution options, and implementing the chosen option.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to move computer desktops, monitors and servers, access under floor plenum, climb ladder to access ceiling plenum, move tables and desks, transport carts of equipment, etc.
• Will be expected to assist in maintaining the lab including cleaning, organizing, vacuuming, etc.

 

Desired Skills:

• Experience managing VMware ESXI, Citrix Hypervisor, Hyper-V.
• Experience with patch management via WSUS server administration.
• Experience with Microsoft Group Policy
• Experience with managed network hardware, (Cisco ASA, FirePower, Dell PowerSwitch, etc.)
• Experience with various scripting languages in both Windows and Linux environments (Powershell, batch, shell, python, etc.)
• Experience with backup and restore methodologies and applications (Veeam Preferred)
• Experience working with NASA Langley OCIO policies, procedures, and organization, and NIST controls.
• Experience with Atlassian products, and Jenkins.
• Web Server administration, understanding of web security concepts.
• An understanding of the DevOps model.
