Job Description:
The increased cadence and complexity of crewed exploration missions to the moon and beyond present complex challenges to the groups at NASA that design and certify medical systems and support medical operations on the ground. Uncertainties over which medical conditions may occur in mission, the lack of medical evacuation, real-time communication, and resupply along with limited flight resources for mass, power, and volume require exacting system design processes. The large number of vehicles and requirements coming from various commercial and international partners presents new challenges for managing data and connections across medical systems and components.
AMA seeks to hire an experienced systems engineer to help our customers integrate digital engineering practices into the NASA Human Health and Performance Directorate and the Human Research Program. This role will develop digital methods to augment system design processes using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as well as participate in the digital transformation of our customer’s technical management processes by introducing process automation and data-driven decision making (technical assessment, decision analysis, configuration, and technical data management).
In this position, collaborations with stakeholders and NASA subject matter experts are vital to make positive contributions to our customer’s engineering processes and outputs. Responsibilities involve advocating and providing guidance for developing MBSE workflows, training on MBSE tool applications, and transforming customer processes by leveraging Microsoft tools to show digital architecture benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Work with stakeholders and experts in the medical and flight operations, clinical science, and space flight program Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) areas
- Apply systems engineering principles and rigor to the task and implement systems engineering products and processes across various parts of the SE lifecycle.
- Work with full Systems Engineering team to identify customer problems, propose and implement digital engineering solutions
- Provide Model-Based Systems Engineering and SysML guidance to systems engineering teammates and customers
- Manage SysML models and administer MBSE tools
