A summer intern would support the team by contributing to projects and taking on legal/governance tasks, thereby increasing the team’s productivity and freeing up full-time employees to focus on strategic projects that they might not otherwise have the capacity for. The type of candidate sought is an individual majoring in business or law, who seeks broad exposure to the business environment, the complex dynamics of corporations, and strategic decision-making processes and practices.
This internship occurs June 10th - August 15th
Potential projects and activities include:
- Annual Shareholder Meeting – Capstone project
- Documentation: Contribute to the creation of meeting materials, communications, webinar content, and governance documents.
- Audit: Support the collection and tracking of ballots (depending on the complexity of the process and system used, there is a potential cost-savings if we would otherwise need to hire Tonkon to audit results)
- Minutes: Draft meeting minutes at the annual meeting
- 2025-2026 Committee Appointments
- Transition Plan: Contribute to the development of a transition plan for staggered service terms
- Documentation: Assist in preparing materials for the Nominating Committee and Board meetings, email announcements, and onboarding materials for new committee members.
- Board and committee meetings
- Preparation: Assist with preparing and reviewing meeting materials, including memos and resolutions for the annual appointment of officers
- Review: Contribute to the review of materials for committee meetings
- Minutes: Draft committee minutes, as assigned
- Assist with Board meeting follow-up activities specific to Corporate Governance
- General Legal Research and Support
Skills and experience gained: Insight into business operations and exposure to other areas through participation in committee meetings (Finance, Wealth Solutions, Legal, etc.), understanding of Corporate Governance by gaining insights into the principles and practices of the function, further development of communications skills tailored for various audiences (e.g., senior management, Board, Member Firms).
Potential for Conversion to Employee – Given the intern's exposure to a diverse range of individuals and teams, there is potential for conversion to a full-time role, depending on their major, fit, and interests.
